Listening To Stories While Following Along With The Book

My students need 2 iPods as listening centers in the library. While in the library, the student would be able to listen to a story while following along in the book.

My Students

Listen to the words, listen to the sentences. Let the books come alive. Students can become better readers while listening to a book while following along reading the book. How wonderful is that?!

We have K-5 students which include ELL students in every grade.

An elementary school in our district closed recently because of budget cuts and our school received many new students from this school. Our ELL students would benefit greatly having listening centers (iPods with books on them)in the library.

My Project

With the iPods needed, we would be able to connect five headsets to each iPod, which would help ten students listen to a story while reading along. The iPods would be able to store many different stories that the students would be able to choose from on their own. Or, a teacher would be able to have students come to the library and designate which stories needed to be read. Watching the letters and words while reading along is a huge help in reading development. We encourage life long readers!

We want children to love reading.

This would be a fantastic way to encourage reading of fun and great books. Students love independence and this would let them read and learn independently.
