Mrs. Nagy from Hampton VA is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need one all-in-one Bluetooth CD player and a set of headphones to allow them the ability to listen to stories to help build their fluency and reading skills.

Every child wants to be in a classroom where they feel excited to be there and are respected. My hope as my students' teacher is to provide a safe place to come and get an education and play while encouraging them to be the best that they can be.
Students of today are the future of tomorrow.
My students look to me to provide them with materials to be successful in learning. Due to limited resources, my students do not have all the necessary tools to be successful.
I have the opportunity to provide instruction to 15-20 students in a Title 1 school, who range in skills when entering kindergarten. My students come from homes that are very diverse. Some students have two working parents trying to make ends meet, military parents, single-parent households, and parents with circumstances that are beyond their control. My goal is to create life-long learners who are excited about school with tools to help them succeed.
I remember as a child listening to books on tape or record to help spark my interest in reading. I would sit for hours listening to the reader and try to mimic the story in the same tone of voice as the reader. I hope to create the same passion for reading by incorporating a listening center into my classroom.
The requested all-in-one CD player and headphones would allow my students to listen to a variety of books to help create an interest in reading, or even acting.
Having the ability to listen to books on CD will allow the students to hear the different voices that characters may make as they listen to someone read the story. They will also have the option of listening to the same story over and over, which will help increase their sight word knowledge and provide an intervention or enrichment to students in an independent center. My goal is to create lifelong learners and this will be another tool to help with their journey!
