Imagine yourself preparing for an adventure of a lifetime... that's what it's like for these 20 5 & 6 year olds preparing for the first day of a lifetime of learning! My students come to kindergarten bubbling with excitement and are eager to learn. They are ready to explore anything and everything!
My school is in a progressively growing rural community with total enrollment in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade of over six hundred students.
The town population is approximately 66,881, with 18 elementary schools in the district. The diversity at our school comes from many economic levels with approximately 45% of our students receiving free or reduced lunches.
My Project
In our classroom, we have a class set of iPads. Each student has the opportunity to enhance learning by practicing and applying what they've learned through literature, educational games, and apps. With 20 iPads reading, playing music, and creating engaging sound effects, the noise level can become uncomfortable for some of my learners.
My classroom has many diverse needs and by providing students with their own headphones, they can focus on learning concepts that are just right for them.
Many of these activities include learning centers, research projects, and student choice with engaging literature. Students need the opportunity to access the technology without disrupting the learning of others.
With your help, I hope to avoid asking families to purchase headphones for their child. Funding for this project won't only help this year's students, but will benefit students for years to come.
