This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our classroom is full of warm smiles and loving students. They come to school eager to learn and get along well with their peers. There are 30 students in this dual language classroom for Spanish. Research shows that native Spanish speakers perform better in reading English if they learn to read in their native language first. We are currently starting to do the "Daily 5" (Read to self, read to others, listen to reading, word work, and listen to a story).

Our students need access to books on CD's in their native language!

Please help us round out their Daily 5 in the same language they do all other reading activities. Your contribution will help our students get a strong base for reading for many future years to come.

My Project

Our kinder class needs books on CD for "Daily Five" reading centers.

Since we want to foster a love of reading, as well as improve their comprehension skills, our students would benefit from books on CD in their native language (Spanish).

Each day after their mini lesson, students will move into the "Daily Five" reading centers. In the centers they practice reading to self, reading with someone, writing about reading, writing words, and for this project we're requesting, Listening to Reading!

When students listen to reading they improve their vocabulary and their comprehension skills. We need these in Spanish so that students can understand what they are listening to. Thanks so much for reading and contributing.
