Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a public charter school with a large population of English language learners. We have a very diverse population of students. The majority of my students receive free breakfast and lunch due to their family's economic standing.
My kiddos are an energetic bunch with a drive to learn and participate in class discussions.
They are very sweet children who do everything in their power to be good friends to their fellow classmates and follow classroom rules. We work hard and we are always nice.
My Project
First grade is one of the most important grades. Students build their foundation in reading. Over the years, I have collected dozens of books with accompanying CD's. Now, our class is in desperate need of CD players to be able to listen to these stories on CD's.
Donating these four Student CD Players, headphones, adaptor, and Listen, Read & Rhyme with Dr. Seuss books on CD will allow my scholars to listen to skilled readers and gain the necessary skills to read fluently.
If my students are able to listen to expressive, animated, and driven readers during this station; they will begin to mimic their tone and their excitement as they become lifelong readers. Listening to fluent readers will specially benefit my English language learners that are just learning correct pronunciations, syntax, grammar, and spelling rules.
We are just beginning the school year and this listening center will allow my kiddos to listen to expressive readers that will mold their reading.
