My students need 12 books on CD to keep our listening center updated. We have a new listening center and we are working to replace our old books on tape with books on CD.
Think back to your school days, do you remember listening to books on tape at home or at school?
My students are first graders that attend a Title I school that serves a cultural and socioeconomic diverse population.
Our school has high expectations for each student, teacher, and staff member. Everyone is expected to do their very best work all day and strive for success.
My Project
We need books on CD to keep our listening center updated. Recently, we have been lucky enough to have received a brand new listening center that has allowed our classroom to update from a dusty old cassette player to a new CD player. Since we have the new technology we need to update and replace our old books on tape to new books on CD. We love to listen to books as we are learning to read because anytime we read we are learning and anytime we are engaged is priceless.
Inspiring students to want to read is a task that can be both rewarding and taxing.
Being able to offer a listening center to my young readers really helps them gain a love of learning early on and keep them engaged throughout their learning process. There is no book too hard when young readers are able to listen to the book and become engaged in the story being shared. Reading good books opens up their imaginations and helps to build a love of reading that every student benefits from.
