Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at this school are from a lower socioeconomic area. Our school's population is 90% African American. They are anxious to learn, want to succeed, and are very helpful.
I am a second year teacher at a new school this year.
My students are avid learners and wanting to participate in their futures. Many of our families lack the resources to provide for necessary school supplies. They want their students to be successful and are involved in their educational lives.
My Project
The headphones and earbuds are for listening to books while in reading centers. I have students of different levels and some that are learning English. We have access to software to read to them, but 21 students listening to 21 different stories makes for a loud reading experience. Some students cannot use earbuds and others cannot handle headphones that fit over the head.
The hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues are for the upcoming strep and flu seasons.
We are a sharing group, but we don't want to share germs. Teaching is difficult when half the class is out with the latest bug that is spreading through the school community.
The colored pencils are for group projects in science. They enjoy group work and enjoy creating finished work that is colorful and detailed. I have several budding artists that are creative as well as intelligent.
