Help me give my students headphones so they can work independently on their chromebooks with out be distracted by classroom noises and the sounds of their peers working.
My students are capable, humorous, outspoken, ambitious and full of questions. They come from all walks of life and back grounds, they vary from 6th thru 8th grade. I work with my students in a special education setting either in direct instruction classes and/or resource. Despite their disabilities my students all have unique talents and the ability to accomplish great things.
Even though they are middle school students, most still come to school with the desire to learn and grow academically.
The majority of my students already struggle with learning and Covid-19 has only made this process even harder. My students have missed so much instruction time, and now we are having to work twice as hard to fill in the gaps and help them gain the skills and knowledge they have missed.
My Project
Having 1:1 devices is great and allows students to work independently. However, the noise coming from having 20+ chromebooks being used at the same time can make it hard for students to focus on their own work. I would love to provide my students with individual, good-quality headphones to use while they are working.
Many of my students struggle to stay focused and engaged when they can hear so many distractions around them.
Having headphones will allow them to focus more on what they are doing and less on the excessive noises around them. I want my students to be able to listen to what they are learning, to hear what is being explained and know that they are getting the best learning experience when working independently.
