This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the privilege of teaching 40 wonderful 3, 4, and 5 year olds. We are a small neighborhood school in Illinois. My students are very curious learners. They love to read and be read to. They ask very often to be read to. It would be amazing if they were able to listen to stories on their own.

Our school is a warm and loving place for children to grow and learn.

My students are a very active, inquisitive group of 3,4, and 5 year olds. They love books. They love to share stories with each other. They love being read to. Throughout the day, they bring me books, and ask to be read to. It would be tremendously beneficial for them to have a listening center complete with books on CD.

My Project

I would love for my students to be able to go to a listening center and choose books that they can listen to on CD independently. This would open a whole new world of reading to them. They would be able to track the words a they are being read to. They would also be able to follow the pictures as they are listening to the books. This is especially important for vocabulary development for our second language learners.

Your generous donation would give my students a listening center that they would have access to everyday.

They will have the ability to listen to stories independently as they follow along in the book. This will help build literacy skills. It will build their vocabulary. A listening center will allow them the freedom of choice in their reading. It will enhance their overall learning experience.
