My students need the HamiltonBuhl HECWNCCD3856SV Basic Cassette/CD/AM-FM Listening Center with six stations and the book and CD sets to help enhance their learning.
My Frsties are excited and eager to learn each day! Our school is located in a Military town, so we have a good mix of local kids and kids from all over the country and the world. Because of this, they come to school with varying degrees of school readiness. They learn at their own rates and need an environment where they can blossom at their own pace.
First graders love stories...they love to read them, they love to hear them and they love to tell them!
My first graders are no different! They love to listen to me read stories to them, as well as read stories to themselves. They also love to tell me their own stories through talking and writing.
My Project
We need the HamiltonBuhl HECWNCCD3856SV Basic Cassette/CD/AM-FM Listening Center 6 stations and books with CDs which will help enhance my students' learning experience by giving them a chance to listen to books read by a variety of people. They will learn how books should be read...with fluency, expression and excitement.
Reading with fluency enhances the comprehension of a story.
My students will listen to the books and hear how reading with fluency sounds.
Some of my First graders are not quite ready to read longer books on their own yet, so the listening center will allow them to practice listening to and understanding the story without having to worry about figuring out words they don't know yet. They will also be able to read along in the book and see how certain words are pronounced. Seeing and hearing the words multiple times will help the students eventually learn the words and be able to read on their own.
Some of the students will be able to read the book on their own, but it is still fun to listen to a book being read to you. As I mentioned before, they will also be able to hear the book being read with fluency which will, in turn, help them read fluently, as well.
The HamiltonBuhl HECWNCCD3856SV Basic Cassette/CD/AM-FM Listening Center 6 stations and books on CD will be primarily used during our literacy block. While I am working with small groups, the other students will be doing things like reading to self, work work, reading with a partner and of course using the listening center. This will give my students meaningful opportunities to enhance their learning independently, so that I am able to work with other students in small groups at the same time. My Firsties would love to have this resource!
