My Students
Our scholars have a wide range of reading abilities which we want to encourage and develop upon entering Kindergarten. They are extremely curious and ready to learn!
The students at my school are incredibly energetic, passionate, and caring towards one another.
We have a strong classroom culture in which everyone is welcomed and all accomplishments are celebrated! Many of our scholars come from low-income households where supplies are limited at home. We believe that the road to college begins in Kindergarten. Our school provides free breakfasts and lunches, as well as many other resources. Students at our school are exceptionally supported through our challenging and personalized curriculum, and we nurture our parents' involvement in their child's education. My kids are exceedingly thirsty for knowledge and always searching for new things to learn!
My Project
These listening center materials will allow students to independently follow along with a book while listening to a strong reader. With this variety of books on CD students will be exposed to new genres, as well as diverse vocabulary which will help build their literacy skills. They will also work on building the basics of phonemic awareness by following words one-to-one, and learning the difference between letters, words and sentences. After doing research, I found that purchasing many of the books individually was most cost efficient. The variety of texts will enable us to rotate the books weekly and peak the interest of each unique child.
This listening center will help to inspire a love for reading that will benefit these students throughout their lives!
It will build critically needed vocabulary, sight word knowledge, fluency, and comprehension skills in a way that is fun and enjoyable for every student.
Your donation will greatly improve the quality of our classroom listening center and help students from low socioeconomic homes in closing the achievement gap by expanding their reading and language skills.
