I'm a first-year fourth-grade teacher at a Title I school, and many of my students can only afford the basic necessities when it comes to school supplies. I want to get a class set of headphones so that all of my students, regardless of socioeconomic background, have a chance to focus and learn with the online products we use in the class.
All of my students play reading and math games to help them with phonics, spelling, grammar, and math facts, and these platforms frequently require the students to hear things.
Unfortunately, right now they often have to turn the volume down to the lowest setting so they won't disturb anyone else in the class because we don't have any headphones to use. And for my students who struggle to read, having headphones to use with "read to me" books can be a game changer, making it possible for them to follow along with stories that otherwise would've been inaccessible.
