Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are a kind, enthusiastic group of first graders. They come to our classroom every day so excited to be at school! They possess enormous amounts of cultural and linguistic wealth, with over half a dozen languages spoken in my classroom alone. A large number of my students are newcomers, refugees, and/or English language learners.
First grade is a big year for literacy and it has been wonderful to see my students become confident readers!
I would love to give my students a listening station during our reading centers, where they can both listen and read along to their favorite stories. I know that this will soon become a favorite station!
This project will ensure that all of my students get access to at-interest books and additional exposure to the English language.
