Listening comprehension is a lot higher for a student than reading comprehension. Help my students increase their reading comprehension while listening AND reading along with a text.
My amazing students are educated in a public, 4 - 6, suburban, theme based school.
We continually strive to integrate the arts and foreign languages on a daily basis. Our district is in a very diverse section of CT. There are a lot of students on free and reduced price lunch. Many of them do not have books to read at home. Many of their families don't even speak English. To be able to listen to books on tape/CD would be a great benefit to many students.
My Project
My students are in need of a listening center that can be used to listen to books on CD. The students will be able to sit and listen to a story that they may not be able to read themselves. The listening center will allow us to share books on CD that the children cannot currently listen to because we do not have a listening station. Some of the students cannot read and being able to hear a story and read along would be very exciting for them.
We just received a brand new program for reading that includes multiple copies of books and CDs to listen with, but nothing to listen with.
Your donation will allow my students to truly benefit from listening to a story while reading along. With the new common core at the forefront of education, it is necessary for my students to build comprehension. We truly appreciate your help!
