My Students
There are 23 students in my classroom. We start out each morning doing our literacy block. We break into small groups based on their reading ability. Some groups are working with me and others are doing independent activities.
Several of them have challenges or different learning styles that make a traditional pencil/paper classroom difficult for them.
They need to be actively engaged at all times and need a lot of modeled reading to help them meet their goals. We are a title one school with a hardworking staff. We want to meet the needs of our students despite time constraints.
My Project
My students will use the headphones and listening station daily as a center during the literacy block. The books on CD will provide more fluent modeled reading while I work with small groups. This will allow them to listen to a story on at their instructional level and increase their oral comprehension. It will also help to build fluent readers.
It will help them to understand important basic skills and practice them in a fun and highly engaged manner.
It will also provide an experience that they may not be able to receive at home.
