My Students

One of the favorite times of our school day is WIN time. WIN stands for What I Need. Students rotate from working with adults, working independently on writing, working with words, reading to self and listening to reading. It has proven to be a highly beneficial part of our day!

Our school has worked very hard over the last few years to meet the needs of all students in the area of Reading.

Part of that endeavor has been the implementation of Response to Intervention. We have focused on assessing where each student is in their abilities and then focused our instruction on their specific needs.

My Project

During our WIN (What I Need) Time, students will move from working with the teacher for their Guided reading Lesson, Working on Writing, Working with Words, Reading to Self and spending time at our Listening Center. We have a variety of books with a wide range of readability. With the purchase of the 5 personal CD players with headphones, students will have a choice of the story they would like to read/listen to. They will find a comfy place to listen to an awesome book! After reading/listening to the story, students complete a variety of activities to go along with the story.

Children learn to read in a variety of ways.

One of those ways is by hearing words read to them while they follow along. Our listening center in our classroom is in very poor shape. It currently consists of one old player that rarely works. The new players will provide a reliable listening center where 5 students at a time can be listening to their choice of stories.
