This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I consider myself the luckiest teacher in the world since I have the best group of students anybody could ask for.

The third graders are enthusiastic, energetic, passionate, and they all have a great heart.

Their love of learning is absolutely contagious!

It is almost impossible to summarize all their qualities. They have them all! They are curious, hard workers, and, above all, they are good people who always try to do the right thing. Our motto is, "Be nice and work hard". I assure you they do both.

My Project

Education is changing, curriculum is changing, testing is changing...The majority of my students are English Language Learners required to take the ELCAP test. This test is very challenging and has a new listening component that asks for the students to listen to a recorded conversation or presentation and to answer some questions about it. They only have one chance to listen to this recording! Unbelievable! Listening skills have been neglected for so long that schools don't have listening centers anymore. We are in desperate need of one, so we can practice before the test. The state test also has a strong listening component that most students regardless of their language are failing across the state. All of us need to practice! Please help us get ready. We need good listeners not only because of all the tests we have to take but also because those who know how to listen, know how to care.
