This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember your favorite book from when you were elementary school? My students have many and being able to listen to these stories they love would only help them in becoming better readers.

My students are a diverse group of learners.

Many of them come from homes where English is not their first language. Being at school is the only opportunity some of the students have to access books to read and listen to. Being able to listen to books will challenge the students in becoming better readers. It also helps English language learners learn the language when they have opportunities to listen to spoken word.

My Project

I am a new teacher who wants to foster the love of reading in my students. To help in fostering their love, I am asking for 4 portable CD players for students to use. Having these will allow students to listen to the books they love to read. My students will be able to listen to books on their own and at their own speed. By having portable CD players they wont be confined to a specific spot in the classroom and can be comfortable listening to books on CD.

Being able to have these in the classroom will help support the students who are learning the English language.

They will be able to listen to the spoken language and this will help in their language development. Listening to books will also help them in becoming better readers all around like developing fluency. This will also give students the opportunity to hear their favorite books read to them.
