My students need a listening center so that they can use listening strategies to enhance learning. It is a great resource to support struggling and strong readers alike!
“The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
- Dr. Seuss, "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!"
People learn in a variety of ways. The ability to listen to a book, look at the pictures or use imagery, can stimulate learning at its best!
This upcoming class of 4th graders love technology!
They are looking for ways that encourage the love of reading. Our small school supports teaching reading with creativity. Students respond to hearing texts read fluently and with expression. Hearing different narrators and styles of reading make them excited to want to read more.
My Project
The technology associated with listening centers make reading fun for students. They will use these materials both as a station during guided reading groups as well as during other times in the classroom for extra practice, etc. They will have the opportunity to listen to "fun" books as well as weekly reading stories. They will use this to assist in developing their listening skills and be able to complete other work before, during and after listening to enhance vocabulary, comprehension, and written expression. It will also provide a small group opportunity to encourage students to work together and retell stories to each other therefore developing communication and social skills as well.
Donations to support this project will allow a for a wonderful resource to be added to my classroom that promotes creativity, listening, communication, and learning to read.
The more they enjoy reading, the more places they will go!
