Do you remember the first time you fell in love with a story? Do you remember wanting to hear it over and over again? With these materials, my students will get that chance to hear great literature multiple times, and fall in love with it.
I am in a Kindergarten classroom of now, 33 underprivileged students.
In previous years I have had an abundance of listening materials and watched as my students fell in love with wonderful, inspiring stories. Recently, I have transferred to a beautiful new school, that though is new, has no materials. It is very important that the quality of the things that are inside of the building, meet the outside of the building. Currently, we do not have a listening center, because there are no tapes or Cd's to play for the students, and they deserve these materials.
My Project
"The Snowy Day" and "Goodnight Moon" are just two examples of the wonderful stories in these sets. Listening centers are a vital way for students to experience literature in a classroom setting. These experiences help students to become independent listeners and readers. They help them explore books that are wonderful, and that they may not necessarily have access to at home. Please help us acquire a set of listening center books.
Listening centers are vital in a child's growth.
They help students feel as though they are independent readers. This love for literature is something that I want to inspire in my students! I want them to feel as though they are readers. Even though they are young, and may not know all the words, the auditory support gives students a feeling of accomplishment will stay with them for a long time.
