My students need an organized listening center to promote literacy skills in our second grade classroom. To meet the learning needs of all students, a listening center would provide differentiated learning opportunities for emergent readers.

My Students
We are a group of inquisitive students who enjoy working together in the classroom. We love gaining new knowledge using GLAD strategies in the classroom as we increase our academic vocabulary and improve our reading and writing skills. We also love practicing our organizational skills using AVID strategies in the classroom. This year, we’re also focusing on inquiry learning and levels of questioning!
One thing we would really appreciate in our classroom is an increased access to technology.
A set of iPads and protective cases could be used as a research tool, support for students needing intensive interventions in literacy or math, and the opportunity of us to participate in enrichment activities!
Your generosity in supporting our learning and inquiry is very much appreciated! Thank you!
My Project
An organized listening center would provide differentiated learning opportunities for emergent readers in our classroom. As students are able to listen to quality literature, they can focus on the skills of comprehension as they also develop effective decoding skills. This provides access to information and enhanced vocabulary for all students in the classroom. Student fluency will also be promoted as students listening to fluent, expressive reading. The ability to listen to reading builds listening skills, attention span, and student focus as students are able to experience reading. Keeping these materials organized in a listening center supports our organizational skills in our classroom.
