My Students

My kindergarteners are ecstatic to be entering a new chapter in their lives. We do have a preschool in the building, but they are officially “big kids” and can not wait to get their learning started. They are eager to try new things and expand their horizons. We live in a small community so students are able to truly form long lasting friendships and become comfortable in their wondering and exploration. I am fortunate to guide them in their new discoveries.

My Project

During our reader's workshop in kindergarten I try to ensure that the children are getting the most out of the time as possible. One ways that this happens is having literacy centers. The students are taught to be independent at about 6 centers and one of those is the listening center. They will be able to choose any book, put the cd in the player and listen as the story is read to them. It has been proven that fluency and vocabulary is improved them students just listen to a book.

This center will greatly help my students in their reading abilities.
