Listening Center Books to Help Reluctant Readers II
My project needs three I Can Read! leveled read-along book sets with cassette tapes.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. J.'s classroom raised $440
This project is fully funded
I am a second-grade teacher at a public school. We are a Title I school with several low-income families. This year I also had an influx of students from other parishes because of Hurricane Katrina.
My school, and the district as a whole,is experiencing a problem with students' reading levels and reading comprehension. Many of the students are not at their appropriate reading level, and they need extra help. I feel that one of the ways I can help in the classroom is to provide my students with enough reading material at a variety of reading levels. A read-along listening center will help both auditory and visual learners with reading.
I am fortunate to already have a listening center, but we do not have any read-along books on tape to go with it. These books come in a variety of different levels and genres. This will help some groups to read together at a listening center, while I work with other small reading groups.
You can help me to boost the reading skills and early development process of the 25+ students I have the privilege of working with daily!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
