Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Stepping into a new classroom this January, a new grade, a new family is daunting. It's also exciting! My return to school comes mid-year after a fall spent about an hour away. The community my students live in can be a high need and yet, you will find some of the most resilient, kind, funny, energetic, and, most importantly, eager-to-learn students who are willing to climb mountains to learn.
Our class motto this year is TRY: Take Chances, Risk it, and Make Mistakes, and Yearn to do better than Yesterday.
Despite obstacles that would be too much for many adults, they remain bright, funny, and fun-loving, and they really enjoy the safety and security that school brings. Our school not only keeps the kids safe, but it's a place where learning comes alive. It's a building steeped in passion and excitement and it is my hope to continue to create a space that is safe, exciting, and educational!
My Project
After years of use, our headphones are almost all out of service. It makes working on Chromebooks an exceptionally difficult experience almost ALL students have to have the sound ON for the programs we use. In order to provide students with the independent learning time to deep dive with our Chromebook programs like Lexia for reading and Zearn for math, we need new headphones.
This set of 25 headphones would provide every student 1:1 access, along with providing a few extras as they begin to wear down.
As well, the mice will go directly into a Chromebook and allow that student access to the mouse instead of the track pad.
