Listening and Learning with Technology

My students need high quality, early childhood, computer headphones that work with Google Chromebooks.

My Students

My first grade students are enthusiastic learners who live in low income housing without access to computers at home. My classroom is equipped with computers, but the headphones were not early childhood friendly and were easily broken. This frustrated my students as they loved to listen to the educational computer programs.

My low income, first grade students love to engage with learning through the reading, phonics, and mathematical programs on school computers because they do not have computers at home.

The students are all on free lunch program in a Title 1I school. They also are from several language background and listening the the English language while doing individual classwork helps progress their English. It is so exciting to see their learning with technology.

The students also love to learn at their own pace and the educational programs provide reinforcement to the teaching standards with engaging student rewards. The computer programs allow me to track their learning and areas that need to be reinforced through direct classroom or small group instruction. They love their computer time.

My Project

My low income first grade students love to learn with computers. They use developmentally appropriate computer programs for individualized learning of reading, phonics, and mathematics. These programs have built in rewards such as game time or makeing an avatar which the students love!

My enthusiatic students are engaged with learning using computer technology but need early childhood appropriate headphones that are student friendly.

They use the computers as additional classroom learning when finished with classroom assignments. This gives me the opportunity to engage students in small group teaching as the classroom is able to listen and learn with computer educational programs.

My students need headphones that are durable and not breakable to enhance their learning. They are often frustrated as the headphones that were supplied with the computers were easy to break and not early childhood friendly. The majority of the class headphones do not allow the students to listen to the computer programs. I would love to see the technology used by all the students for their learning potential.
