My Students

I Can Read With My Eyes Shut! Some children who read Dr. Seuss's book would like to think so. But we all know that it's quite difficult to read if we keep our eyes closed. It's also hard to read if we keep our ears shut!

I teach special education at an elementary school in West Virginia.

My students are wonderful and range from 2nd grade to 5th grade. Many of them struggle in the area of reading fluency. They work hard to achieve success and really benefit from having an extra boost!

My Project

My students need 10 portable CD players to practice reading with a fluent reader at school as well as at home. My students are able to practice and improve their reading skills at school, why not give them the same opportunity at home? If my students are given a portable CD player to practice their reading materials from school, they will be able to soar to new heights! We already have fluency programs that include stories and questions on a CD to use in the classroom; if the students can take them home and practice with a fluent reader on a CD, they can greatly improve their reading skills!

Portable CD players will allow my students accurate independent reading practice at home.

The more they are able to practice, the more they will improve their reading! Please enable my students to be the best readers they can be!
