This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach first grade in Sandy, UT. Our school is a dual immersion school, so I teach English and my partner teacher teaches Spanish to our 56 students. They are all so amazing and so different it makes it fun and challenging to teach them. Each child comes in with widely varying reading levels, learning styles and personalities, and I get the chance to get to know them and help them grow.

I love that I get to be a part of each of my students' journey through life and that I get to make a difference.

I try my best to be the kind of teacher they deserve!

My Project

In our school we have an amazing online reading program that helps students build their understanding of the foundational skills required for them to learn to read. It is fun and very effective! But it can sometimes get loud when I have 56 iPads all playing at the same time. This makes it harder for the students to understand what they are supposed to be learning and makes it easy for one student to be distracted by what another student is doing. With these earphones I can eliminate both of those problems, and it would help my students become better readers!
