This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a neighborhood school that serves students with high needs. We are a high poverty school where most of our students receive free or reduced lunch. My students face daily obstacles that often influence their ability to learn.

Our second grade classroom is a fun and serious place to learn.

We are working on growing our skills as readers, writers, mathematicians and scientists. In order to do this, we have a variety of activities designed to give us daily practice.

My Project

In second grade, we are working hard to become better readers. Reading fluency is a key skill in building reading comprehension. I am always looking for ways to give students experiences with good text. I need your help putting one good resource to work!

A great way to build reading fluency is to listen to already fluent readers read.

Over the years, I have collected some pretty awesome text...with cassette tapes! (I know that seems a bit archaic.) I have some CDs as well. I need a new listening centers with new headphones and CD player so that my students can access this wonderful resource to help them on their path to becoming fluent readers.
