My students need a CD & Cassette Player/Recorder, a Read for Comprehension! Fiction Listening Center, a Read for Comprehension! Nonfiction Listening Center and a set of Building Vocabulary and Comprehension Listening Center Skill Packs, Hands-On Math Listening Centers and a Storage Rack.
Teaching in California, my class consists of 20 beautiful 2nd grade students! Our school is located in an area of high crime and poverty. 78% of students attending our school are students of poverty. More than 50% of my class are English Language Learners. As an educator, it is important to me to provide students with various ways of learning. Through a variety of learning experiences, active engagement and the potential of becoming successful learners will increase. Your contributions will provide my students to learn in new and exciting ways!
Our school is a Title I school. We are extremely limited in supplies and funds. In order for my students to have meaningful learning experiences, I have personally funded my own learning centers/activities for reading and math. Given our current and future budget cuts, it will be difficult for me as the enthusiastic educator that I am to continue to enrich my classroom with various modalities of learning. Students involved in hands on learning stay engaged and become successful learners.

My students need Read for Comprehension! Fiction and Non Fiction Listening Centers to build reading comprehension skills and strategies. These skills and strategies will be essential when reading grade level passages during testing and in everyday grade level curriculum.
My students need the complete set of Building Vocabulary Listening Center Skill Packs. Students will be able to define words, identify synonyms, decode context clues and more…with self-guided vocabulary activities they can complete on their own!
My students need the complete set of Building Comprehension Listening Center Skill Packs. These various activities are focused on practicing the 6 key comprehension skills and are self-guided activities, in which students can complete on their own!
My students need the complete set of Hands-On Math Listening Centers. These guided listening center activities will be beneficial in practicing math skills and can be done at their own pace.
My students will need the storage rack for the ready to use listening activities.
These various listening centers are beneficial in becoming better readers and building reading comprehension and math skills needed. Since the majority of my class are English Language Learners, these listening centers will be a great way to learn and develop reading and math skills. They will be great for small group, workshop, and individual instruction. You will make it possible for my students to experience new and engaging ways of learning. Your help will benefit all my students and help them become responsible and successful students!
