I am a third-year teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district with a high ESL population. Many of my students do not have technology or educational resources readily available outside of school. While in my care, I would like to provide my students with as many educational approaches and opportunities as possible.
For a few of my students, this is their first school experience and I would like to make it a positive part of their childhood.
By offering engaging and interesting projects and learning opportunities, my students can develop a love for learning.
Some of my students have a difficult time sitting still or attending to a project for more than three minutes. They enjoy movement, singing, and dancing! My students are my kids, and like a parent would, I am trying to help them in every aspect of their lives!
My Project
My students participate in listening stations on a daily basis. Our current headphones and a few of our portable CD players aren’t decent quality and can sometimes prevent my students from a purposeful and enjoyable experience during their station time.
These materials will help my students become engaged and excited when they listen to books on CD.
Early readers love to follow along with text as they begin to recognize and read written words.
The headphones will also be used to read books on iPads and with Leap Frog Readers. We enjoy a variety of ways to become great readers and this will definitely support positive reading habits and increase our interest during station time.
