This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are all English Language Learners. Some of them are brand new to the United States and some of them have been here for 5 or more years. There are currently over 15 languages represented in our ELL program. The countries and territories represented include Puerto Rico, Central America, Micronesia, Ethiopia, Lithuania, Venezuela, Mexico, and a few more. I am passionate about allowing these students to become successful in school, in our community, and in their future.

My Project

Finding current materials that engage HIgh School English Learners is a difficult task. Listenwise is a program that allows English Learners to listen to current events, classic and contemporary literature, and informational text that is designed to be age and language development appropriate.

Listenwise and ELL Brain Pop will not only help increase language, but will give students background information and vocabulary across the curriculum, making them more successful in every classroom.

Giving our English Language Learners resources like Listenwise and BrainPop give them the resources they need to become successful students.
