LISTEN UP! Listening Station and Supplies.

My students need a listening station in our classroom. Students will have the opportunity to listen to audio books during center time. The timers and phones are for students during fluency practice.

My Students

I am a teacher of the best grade in the world ...Third Grade! They are always striving to be the best kids they can be. They are leaders who plan on leading the world in a great direction someday!  Children at this age are eager to learn.

I have 24 hard working and enthusiastic learners in my class.

They put so much energy into everything they do. It brings a smile to my face to see them engaged and wanting to learn. We have some special need students who require a lot of peer support. It warms my heart daily to see how supportive they are to each other.

My Project

Each day students work in small centers while I am working with small groups. A listening station is a fabulous center for students to visit during this time. A listening station allows students to listen to picture books, and follow along as they listen. This allows them to hear what good expression and fluency sounds like. I have access to so many good audio books, but I need the headphones and hub for the center to be a success. The storage bin makes moving in and out of classrooms really handy.

As well as the listening station, the timers will also help to improve fluency.

Each day we practice fluency passages and phrases. Students partner up and I time them for one minute. Having enough timers for each pair will allow the students autonomy. They will be able to be independent and time their own partners. This will allow them to have more control over their learning and growth.

The sound phones will allow students to read to themselves. With the phones, they can hear themselves better. They can hear if they are reading choppy or smoothly. This will be an activity to do during center time, as well.
