My students need read along books to help increase their reading fluency and comprehension.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Hellman's classroom raised $248
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students are joyful, rambunctious, high energy and full of life. They all have big dreams to be a lawyer, to be a basketball player, to go to college, to be an astronomer and more.
I teach a self-contained, special education class in Baltimore, at a Title One school where one hundred percent of students receive free lunch.
They are all unique in their personalities and learning styles, and demonstrate their knowledge in different ways. In my classroom, they learn critical academic, behavioral, and life skills. I want to give them all the tools they need to be successful and accomplish their goals.
My Project
I was lucky enough to receive funding from Donors Choose for a read along listening center, and corresponding books and CDs. I am looking to build my read along library to provide a variety of materials at different levels in order to meet the diverse needs of my students. Since all of my students are at very different academic levels, I need varying levels of reading materials to make sure everyone is being challenged.
Read along books will allow my students to access more complex materials that they are not able to read independently.
More variety in our listening center will ensure that students are engaged and learning and not just listening to the same books over and over again.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
