My Students

My students love coming to the art room! I want to keep them enthused with new artists, music integration, and to tie what we do in art into the core curriculum in a fun and engaging way. We would love you to be a part of that journey!

My students are from a suburban area just outside a large city.

Despite our rural setting, most of my students come from backgrounds of poverty and have not been privy to books, arts, or music on a daily basis. At our fine arts based school, we integrate the arts. This serves many purposes; but the top two are that it keeps students excited about learning and improves their ability to learn, problem solve, and retain learning.

My Project

The music CDs and artist books I am requesting will be used on a daily basis with my student body of nearly 500 children. As the art teacher, I see all students in our k-2nd grade school. The books will be read to the students, read by the students, and available for hands-on learning. The CDs will tie in musical history with the artists we are studying. Playing them during the creation process will enhance their learning and retention of the concepts taught.

For my students to have access to books and music is a benefit to all.

The students who have this access will become creative problem solvers, inventors, scholars, and future leaders. These children who typically have not had the advantages of books, arts, or music in their homes will now have a level playing field from which to sprout and bloom.
