Help me give my students a portable microphone, speaker, and presentation mouse for classroom presentations. This would help give them the tools to give an engaging presentation and be heard by their peers.
Our school is located in a rural coastal community where about 1/3 of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
Our building serves about 678 6th, 7th, and 8th graders total.
The media center serves all of these students. We have two classroom sections where teachers have classroom projects and give students an opportunity to present group projects.
Middle school students are a lot of fun to work with as they are turning into young adults, exploring their interest and trying to find their own identities.
My Project
We have all sat through the student presentation where a shy student mumbles something out and flips through slides that no one really can see or understand. The media center is a big space with a high screen, students often struggle to give presentations to their peers in this place because it's so hard to fill the room with their voice.
With a small portable speaker and microphone, we would be able to amplify students' voices to the back of the room.
This allows students to feel confident in their presentation, and allow their peers to learn from and with them.
Presentation clickers would help students move through the slides instead of standing by their Chromebook, they can circle and highlight using the clickers without having to move back to their computers.
