My Students

I work at a Title 1 School. I teach one of the Kindergarten Ell classes. I have students from Mexico, Africa, Vietnam, and Puerto Rico. Most of my students speak another language at home.

My students have the desire to learn and need the appropriate materials to help them.

These students work so hard and I am so proud of the progress they are making. I need activities that are fun and engaging. My class needs to build vocabulary and they love listening to stories.

My Project

Many of my students are English Language Learners and most of their parents do not speak English either. In my class we need to build English vocabulary and a great way to do this is by reading and listening to stories.

I am requesting a listening center so my students can listen to stories during small group reading rotations and writing centers.

The students will learn to listen and retell stories and then write about the stories they listen to. Listening and retelling stories will help to build my student's vocabulary as well as their confidence in reading. We look forward to story time at the listening center.
