Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My bilingual class is composed of a very special group of students. How do I know they are special? I know this because they are creative, adventurous, caring, kind, funny, and enthusiastic individuals. These bilingual students have proudly been part of our school’s Dual Language Program since Kindergarten. Since then, these students have been working on their ability to fluently speak, read, listen, and write proficiently in two languages.
This group is eager, full of energy, and is committed to being learners of two different languages, which is not an easy task!
Throughout the day, students are constantly being challenged academically, as the workload is rigorous. Daily, my students have to work diligently to master the Common Core Standards in Spanish and English. I am pleased to say that they are definitely up for the challenge!
My class is a diverse group that is composed of students who come from different cultural and economic backgrounds, and have a variety of learning styles and needs. They are all unique, which brings a wonderful dynamic to our classroom. Together we always find a way to enjoy learning and have fun! Each day is a whole new adventure in our class!
My Project
My students often share that they are not able to hear my instruction. It is challenging to be a bilingual learner and adding the fact they can't hear my instruction makes distance learning that much more challenging! The Apple AirPods will help me give my students a better learning experience. They come with a built in microphone that will allow students to hear me clearly during instruction; therefore providing a quality learning experience. They also come with a noise cancellation feature, which will allow me to provide instruction free of distractions and without missing a beat! With the AirPods, I will also be able to hear and answer student questions and provide the clarity they need to access the content.
