Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help us learn! My students need materials that we do not have access to so that they can access the curriculum. My first and second graders do not have many materials that they can use even though they all have that accommodation on their IEP.
I am in a Learning Center with approximately 50 students.
The students have all different types of disabilities ranging from intellectually disabled to students with Autism. The students range in age from K-5. These students love to learn and when they have the proper materials there is a better result in their learning.
My Project
These students do not have all of the materials that they need to succeed in school. These materials would be beneficial to them to learn how to use. The students are required to answer questions verbally and it is hard to make sure that we do this individually. With microphones, the students would be able to record their thoughts on the computer that the teachers could check for understanding later. The headphones would allow the students to check their verbal answers and to listen to what they are working on while on the computer without disrupting the class. The magnetic white boards and letters are part of our reading program. The students struggle with placement of letters and being able to manipulate the letters on their own individual boards will benefit their literacy skills.
This project would provide materials that the students need to access the curriculum.
With these new materials students would gain the confidence they need to be successful in school.
