Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I school, with 90% of our students on free or reduced-price meal plans. We have many English Language Learner (ELL) students at our school. Over half of my students are ELL students. Our students come from working families and families who speak other languages at home. Some parents are not able to communicate in English with us, but we do have Spanish-speaking translators on site.

Our staff is very caring and committed to providing a nurturing, fun, and engaging classroom for all our students.

We want students to know that we will be there for them and give them as much as we possibly can. One great thing about our school is that we have one-to-one devices, iPads or Chromebook computers. For many students, this is the first time they have been able to use and engage with today's technology.

My Project

I am asking for animal figures like lions, tigers and bears! Learning about animals and their classifications is a great way for my students to learn about these amazing creatures. Each year I break down different classifications and go over each one throughout the year. My students will learn where animals live, how they survive, and what they do.

Having hands on animal figures is a great way for my students to make mini-movies using a green screen background.

They can choose what animal they want to study and make short videos explaining facts about that animal. We will do this all year long in centers during our tech time. Students will use their iPads and apps that help them build these short movies. This will be a great way to have my students engaged and excited about learning!
