Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My preschoolers are wild about animals! However, they don't have any decent animals to play with. All the toy animals that they have are very old, dirty, and cracked, with the paint nearly gone. Its hard to tell what most of them are supposed to be. And over the years, most of our play people have disappeared. We really need some new animals to play with that look like the real thing and some people playsets for our dramatic play time. The whole class loves to play with animals and act out their sounds, play with family members and talk about what happens at home. We also use the people and animals to teach social skills, sharing, empathy, and much more. My class of 10 special ed preschoolers really need hands-on experience to help them understand difficult concepts. Having only pictures to look at is difficult for them to understand, so they have so much more fun and gain so much more understanding when they act things out. It would be so helpful for us to have play animals and play people to help us have these hands on experiences for dramatic play and to teach these important skills. Thank you for reading!
