I teach 140+ very energetic 7th grade students. 7th graders are very curious about the world and how they fit in it. My students are in the stage of life where they are trying to figure out where they belong and what they would like to do when they get older.
I love when the students make connections and get excited to be at school.
It is so important for my students to see how any subject relates to them. My students really enjoy hands on learning experiences where they can critically think and work with others. I want to be able to help the students answer the question, "When are we ever going to use this?"
My Project
7th grade students have trouble seeing how math fits into their lives. I am constantly giving students examples of how math relates to their lives. The Scholastic math magazines and math games will help them get there! Scholastic math magazine is a cross-curricular way to connect math to middle school students. There are articles in various topics where students have to read graphs and do math calculations to figure out solutions. When students can relate to a subject, they are more willing to learn.
This project will help students connect to math and get more excited about learning!
Scholastic math magazine brings real world math to the students with topics they can relate to. Math games will help the students critically think and not even realize they are using math. My students are very curious and want to learn even though they don't always show it. I want to help them be excited about learning and math.
