My Students

Students in my classroom come from low socioeconomic background. These students come mostly from broken homes with several being raised by people who are not their biological parents, some even living in foster care. These students are very excited to come to school and look forward to learning each day they are here! I want to provide my students with wonderful learning experiences that includes technology, dramatic play and any other

positive learning experience I can provide.

I work in a state funded preschool with 100% of students receive free lunches. We have many students on the backpack program so that they are able to eat at home! Some of these students travel 10-20 miles to come to school each day, so I want to provide them with the best that I can.

My Project

This project will help to upgrade the library center in my classroom. I like to read a variety of books that are fun for every student so they are used during whole group story time and placed within the classroom library for individual student use as well. Books are great to teach a variety of skills within the classroom and I use them for just that purpose. I use books to also teach social-emotional skills. It's always fun to pair an activity or story re-telling craft with a book that keeps students interested and fully engaged. The books that I chose for this project offer a wide variety of literacy experience opportunities for my students. I will use the teacher pay teacher gift cards to purchase crafts that go along with the new books!

I'm so excited for the chance to add new books into my classroom because preschool is such an important time of growth and development.

It's important to provide rich literacy experiences for every student and to teach social-emotional skills early on. What better way is there to do that than through a great book? Thank you for such a wonderful opportunity!
