This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Cornhole club will allow Lindblom to build a team for individuals who have good athletic skills, but maybe not in the traditional basketball, football or volleyball areas that require height advantages to be successful. We plan to build a club that competes internally and provides colloquium day opportunity as well. In addition, this would allow our student athletes to compete regionally where cornhole is a growing event that many athletes could turn pro or simply play as a healthy social outlet.

Specifically for our Lindblom students, cornhole would provide the opportunity for them to increase their strategic thinking, spatial awareness, adaptability and social skills as they adjust to different situations.

There is no advantage to being a specific athletic build, so all students could excel in this game while building hand-eye coordination, focus and concentration skills, etc. Students would apply the laws of gravity, projection, speed and motion to understand how the slightest strategic adjustment could alter the impact of their throw in a set or a match.

My goal for creating this club and colloquium class (every Wednesday all year long) is to provide opportunity for students of varying stature and or athletic ability to thrive in an activity that everyone can perform well.

Lindblom students are special because they have an increased mindset for critical thinking which they could apply to become strong competitors. Being part of a team is also something that everyone enjoys, but no one likes when things out of their control make it difficult to better their opponents. Mastering cornhole is possible for all student athletes regardless of outside factors.
