Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are quickly becoming fully bilingual and bi-literate. They are part of a dual language pilot program. I enjoy that my students have plenty to say and many thoughts to share. My students enjoy playing instruments, singing, listening to stories, nursery rhymes and playing with anything they can get their hands on. My students are very caring and empathetic. They have also shown an interest on drawing, writing and assembling puzzles. They like activities that involve imagination and creativity.

My Project

Storytime is a very enjoyable part of the day for my 5 year old students. They enjoy all sorts of stories both in English and Spanish.

Providing students with books that reflect their culture, language, values and customs will give my students a good sense of identity.

My students are bilingual, bicultural and are learning to become biliterate. These Lil' Libros will teach my students about tradition while growing their language skills in English and Spanish. We look forward to afternoons of learning about Latino artists, leaders and characters. Additionally, the kid friendly llustrations in these books are great for encouraging students to participate in dialogue.
