My students need a Green Screen Kit to create videos for projects, re-enactments, and plays. It enables them to change the background and be filmed anywhere they choose.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
With STEM and Common Core State Standards we are incorporating more opportunities to use technology across the curriculum. I am trying to give my students the opportunity to "show" what they learn through making videos. The Green Screen Kit will enable them to use technology in different ways.
My students are striving for ways to participate in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities.
Our CA school is a Magnet School of Math, Science, and Technology - first, newly adopted magnet school program in the district.
Let me give you a brief description of my 4th grade classroom and school. Our school is in a high-poverty, low social economic area with 91% of our school receiving free or reduced breakfast/lunch. The demographics are: 86% Hispanic, 7% African-American, 6% Caucasian, 1% Other. 57% of our students are English Language Learners. Only 22% of our parents have taken a college/vocational class and about 4% have a college degree.
My Project
Help my 4th graders "Show what they know" by using Green Screen video technology, narrating the video, by working and collaborating in teams. Green Screen technology can set the backdrop of the video scene to anywhere they want - cities around the world, in space, on planets, etc. Our Magnet School Program (Math, Science, and Technology) is trying to incorporate more technology into the curriculum all the time. If they were able to create videos to describe the process of something, how much more powerful would that be? Videos could be shared the entire school, grade level, and/or on the internet for anyone to use. Video creation allows students to use their higher level thinking skills, like critical thinking and problem solving. We have the cameras, but would like to take our videos to the next level with green screen technology.
Maybe this will spark the interest of the next great film director, photographer, producer, etc. Watch out George Lucas and Steven Spielberg!
I envision my students working in teams and collaborating to spread their knowledge by creating these videos.
Their creative minds need to be expanded and this Green Screen can let their imaginations run wild!
As you can see, the Green Screen Kit will help my students "Show what they know" by creating videos of what they are learning in all different subjects across the curriculum. Can't you just see these kids teaching each other what they learned and having fun creating videos to show it!
