My students need a document camera to see guided instruction and learn math more efficiently.

My Students
As a teacher in a high poverty school district my students are faced with challenges in and outside the classroom. Despite the challenges my students face they persevere. My student are high energy, communicative, and enthusiastic learners. They have a lot of energy and are always looking for a fun way to learn. They are always looking for a fun way to learn and enjoy being involved with the lesson in whatever way possible.
My students love to show off their work and teach their peers.
They are excited to teach one another, both in groups and in front of the class. My students are visual, tactile, and kinesthetic learners. They love to use different resources in the room to show different learning strategies to their classmates. The students are a lovely, diverse group of mathematicians, scientist, writers and artist.
My Project
Currently, the white board or an overhead projector are used to learn mathematics. At the end of each class the transparencies are washed and the board is wiped clean, to make room for the next subject. This requires math expressions and steps to be rewritten everyday, taking up valuable class instruction time. Having a document camera would allow the students to follow along with more ease because they would be viewing the same worksheet in front of them that is projected on the board. A document camera would save time as we could pull out yesterdays worksheet and review rather than rewriting each problem on the board.
A document camera will greatly influence my students learning and my teaching.
A document camera will allow for students to show their work in real time without having to copy the work onto the board. It also allows for simple explanation of expectations and instructions. A document camera would create a learning environment where all students in the class, no matter where they sit, are able to observe the same hands on material with the same quality. This piece of technology will assist me in teaching by having more time each lesson for instruction. The gained instruction time will lend itself to more hands on, kinesthetic, and visual activities to take place in class.
