My students need binders, dividers, sheet protectors and a binding machine to create their STAR (Students Taking Academic Responsibility) binders and class books.
Many of my students are on free and reduced lunch and come from low-income households where educational resources are very limited. The love that they have towards school and learning at such a young age, amazes me. Such love gives me the drive I need to be the best teacher for them and provide them with whatever they need to succeed.
My students walk into the classroom every day full of life, excited to learn and eager to see what is in store for them each day.
However, despite the challenges they face at home they always enter school with smiling faces and ready minds.
My Project
Every year my classroom theme changes, and this year we are the Shining Superstars! My students learn to shine in all that they do, reading and writing is a very important skill that I focus on with my young learners. I teach my students that we are all authors and illustrators. This year I would like to take this another step and give my learners the ability to experience and apply this in the classroom. The binding machine, combs and covers will be used to publish and create books within the classroom. Students will be able to write and publish their own stories to add to our classroom library.
As Shining Superstars we learn to excel and lead both in and out of the classroom. My students are given numerous opportunities to be leaders in and out the classroom.
Our STAR binders, allow learners to showcase their independence at home. My students take home their STAR binders everyday. My students need binders and sheet protectors to house all of the resources they are given to use at home. Creating our binders is a special event, my students help me put the resources inside of their binder. I love allowing my students to help in this process because they take more ownership and try their best to take care of their binders throughout the year.
Donations to this project will allow me to create passionate young learners who have a positive attitude towards their learning and being leaders in our community. It is never to early to start developing young minds into leaders that not only serve themselves but others around them.
