My Students
My fifth-grade students are amazing with unlimited potential, but limited resources to fully explore their ideas. The students come from low-income homes where for some, they only interact with educational items at school. Our entire school receives free breakfast and lunch,
My students have a genuine love for learning.
They love to come in early and stay late to help and learn. I want to be able to nurture that love before it is lost. Every year I have the pleasure of teaching students from varying abilities, from highly gifted learners to special needs students, but they all bring the same thing to my class: the love of learning and the eagerness to do their best. Being a person with a disability myself, I want to show them that anyone can be successful regardless of their limitations. I want to fulfill my duty and give them every opportunity they deserve.
My Project
It seems the whole world was thrown upside down and such a short time. We shifted everything to distance learning with only the things that were already at our houses. Caught off guard, I made due with the camera and laptop I had available. To finish off the school year it was "good enough". This year if and when we have to go back to digital I want to be prepared.
The document camera and laptop stand will help me provide a better setup to teacher from, and create a more effective distance learning experience for the students.
With the document camera I will be able to better show students how to follow the process and steps to complete complex math problems. The laptop stand will provide me with the ability to keep my laptop cool all day. The stand will also allow me to teach standing which will help me physically.
The document camera can also be used in the classroom for students to be able to show their work on the board as well as be able to give presentations of projects that are completed.
