it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
During my last decade at MPHS, I have seen the success of my students and our program grow exponentially. My students are competent and confident musicians who travel to perform and compete. Due to our travel and the restrictions in a post-COVID world, it has become difficult for parents to see their students perform at venues other than our own school. Last year, we began live-streaming our performances via Facebook and recording our performances to share via Google Classroom. However, the quality of my personal video camera is significantly lower than that of an iPhone - and students have requested an upgrade!
Our band was nominated by the Governor of Rhode Island to represent the state in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, DC in May of 2023.
This is a HUGE experience for my students, as many of them have never even left our little state. However, this is yet another performance that our families will not be able to witness without a recording or live stream. This camera would offer the possibility of sharing all of our performances, festival competitions, and our DC parade performance with my student's biggest fans, their family!
This project requests a video camera and tripod to record all of our performances as well as violin and viola strings necessary to replenish our supplies for my musicians.
