My students need a document camera because I do not have large manipulatives that fit my board. With the camera I can show students how to use their math tools correctly.

I teach math and science to 44 wonderful 4th graders at a Title 1 school.
Our day starts out with a whole group math lesson using manipulative's to help better reach understanding. We then move onto notebook activities that help make the instruction come alive for the students.
My Project
The struggle that I am having with my instruction is that I do not have a document camera that is clear enough for the students to follow along as we work through rigorous problems in math and in science. I would love to have large manipulative's for my board so the students can see how I use them but I do not. If I did have this document camera I would be able to use their manipulative's and make them look enlarged so they can see. This will also be helpful when we take notes and do notebook activities in my classroom for the same reasons.
It is my hope that this will change their lives for the better because it will make instruction run smoother then ever before.
There will not be a student who gets left behind because they are able to follow my every move with the manipulative's. I hope to instill confidence in my students as mathematicians.
